About the event
Kaveh was originally grown in Ethiopia and exported through the port of Mokka. It was a closely guarded and valuable export and slowly made its way to Turkey. It hit Europe around 1650 and transformed the former ale and beer drinking culture! Coffeehouses quickly sprung up and became meeting places to discuss trade, politics and all sorts of interests. They were exclusively for men - no self-respecting woman could visit!
Come learn about the fascinating world of coffee from origins and customs in Ethiopia to 17th century Ireland and beyond. We will roast and gring with old tools - no modern barista machines! Get a taste and smell of coffee as it was originally before becoming lattes and americanos!
The Coach House Cafe sells regular coffee, tea, cold beverages, and homemade cakes too. This event is free. The Coach House is accessible via a ramp.
