THE NORMAN WAY
Explore the Norman Way Historical Sites.
Cycle, walk or drive this marked route and explore the ancient sites dating from the 12th century and the settlement of Wexford by the Anglo-Normans and their descendants. Sigginstown Castle is a site on the Norman Way. The closest other sites are St. Catherine's Norman Church, Ishartmon Norman Church and Tacumshane Windmill.

The Norman Way is also the Eurovelo cycle route and you can venture from Rosslare Harbour to New Ross seeing many different historical sites along the way. Each is marked with a lovely sign in English and Irish explaining the site and how it might have looked in previous times

Have dinner at our favorite nearby pub and restaurant, only 1 mile from the castle. We occasionally play music sessions here too!
Get the key to Tacumshane Windmill, one of Ireland’s only 19th century windmills still standing.
Kilmore Quay & Saltee Islands
Visit a lovely fishing village and the source of much of the southeast and Ireland’s seafood. Kilmore Quay is only 15 minutes away and has a nice little safe swimming area. Eat fresh fish and chips, delicious ice cream, or just walk around. The village of Kilmore is near to Kilmore Quay and home to the famous Mary Barry Restaurant.
If weather is good take an excursion to the wonderful Saltee Islands, a bird nesting sanctuary and home to the cute little puffins! Prince Michael bough the islands after dreaming of it as a child, declared himself Prince and built a throne.

Irish National Heritage Park
Take a. relaxing walk around the many sites to see 9000 years Irish history brought to life, over 40 acres of native woodland, marsh and shoreline.

The Park has recreated attractions that tell the story of Ireland's culture from the Bronze Age to the Normans. There are guided tours available or walk on your own. Cafe, Falconry centre and often special events!

Johnstown Castle & Agricultural Museum
Reserve a tour at Johnstown Castle to see how a castle evolved into Victorian times. Very different from Sigginstown Castle as it was lived in until the 20th century.
Visit the Agricultural Museum and see how farm technology progressed, and life in the country during the famine.

Karoo Farm Shop
Have a great breakfast or lunch out at Karoo Farmshop in the village of Killinick - a ten minute drive from the castle. It serves wonderful local food & has a small grocery with a fun vibe. See karoo.ie
Rosslare Harbor /Lady’s Island
Visit the Maritime Museum at Rosslare Harbour, walk along the scenic coast, and explore Lady’s Island, home to ancient pilgrimages, churches and towers
